COVID UPDATE: 10 new cases announced Monday

After days of very few new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Milam County, today 10 new cases were announced.

Milam County Judge Steve Young announced Moday night that there were new cases.

"Today we have a lot of cases to report," Young said. "We have six new PCR cases and four new probable cases. One person was admitted to a local hospital for treatment."

This brings the total confirmed PCR test count to 517 with five active cases. The total confirmed antigen case count  is 73 with 14 active.

 Young said 24 people were tested in Rockdale on Monday with four positive results.

Testing is going on today at the Thorndale Firemen’s Hall from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you are a Milam County resident with COVID symptoms, you will be administered a free rapid test.

"Nationwide, we reported the most confirmed cases since mid-August, in excess of 54,000," Young said. "Today we are at just under 40,000 nationwide."
