Milano ISD names Luevanos as lone finalist for superintendent

The Milano Independent School District has announced a lone finalist for superintendent.

The MISD Board of Trustees met on Thursday, Jan. 28, and named Elisabeth Avila Luevanos as the lone finalist for the district’s superintendent position.

Dr. Elisabeth Avila Luévanos has been in education for over 15 years and has working in various capacities from teacher, school administrator and currently as the Director of Student Services.

Prior to working at Milano ISD, she worked at Texas A&M University working with school districts in improving school practices and educational environments through the W. K. Kellogg Foundation Grant. She has also worked as an Adjunct Professor working with future campus administrators and district superintendents at Texas A&M University. 

As a curriculum auditor for Curriculum Management Solutions, Inc., Dr. Luevanos brings a highly qualified perspective to systems focused organizations for student academic success. Dr. Luevanos has presented her research on student voice, empathetic leadership, and inclusionary practices at local, state, and national conferences.  

She is currently a member of University Council for Education Leadership (UCEA), American Educational Research Association, National Principals Conference (NASSP), Texas Association of School Administrators, and Texas Association of School Business Officials.

Luevanos holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and International Business and a Master of Science from Baylor University, a Doctorate of Philosophy from Texas A&M University, and will complete her Master of Business Administration in Organizational Change from Houston Baptist University this summer.
