Holcombe Memorial Scholarship Mardi Gras Bash postponed
Organizers of the Mardi Gras Bash have decided not to have the annual celebration in 2021 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. However, scholarships will still be given out in 2021 as donations have already been sent in lieu of the raising funds at the annual Mardi Gras celebration.
Thus far $7,600 has been donated to the cause according to Deborah Kostroun who has helped organize the annual event for the past eight years.
Kostroun says for those who wish to support the annual scholarship can send a donation to the Christine Holcombe Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Teri Adcox, 1701 N. Hoover, Cameron, Texas 76520.
Every donation matters - no matter how small or large - as all funds go directly to scholarship winners.
A collegiate scholarship fund was established in honor of longtime Milam County extension agent Christine Holcombe who lost her battle with cancer in 2013. Over the past eight years the Chris Holcombe Memorial Scholarship has awarded $103,000 in scholarships to Milam County college students.
Students must have completed one year of college and must have graduated from a Milam County high school to be eligible for the scholarship.
