COVID REPORT: More deaths added across county

The death report continues to rise from COVID-19 in Milam County.

County Judge Steve Young reported on Friday night that the death toll has risen to 33 with four additional deaths last week. He said active cases were up 18 on Friday also.

“Our area hospitalization rate today was 12.07 percent,” Young said. “This is day four of seven where our rate has been under 15 percent. If we stay at 15 percent or lower for seven consecutive days, the business occupancy rate will go back to 75 percent and the bars can reopen.”

The Rockdale One Stop County Tax Assessor/Collector office is closed until further notice due to COVID. The Precinct Two Road and Bridge office in Cameron is also closed due to COVID.

On Thursday, Feb. 11, the county will provide about 320 second round shots to those individuals that received first round shots on Jan. 11 and 14. This will be done at the former Cameron hospital.

On Friday, Feb. 12, the county will provide about 150 first round shots and will assist Brookshire Brothers with an additional 100 first round shots. This will be done in Rockdale at the former Rockdale Clinic.

All clinics are done by appointment only. This is for the convenience and safety of those getting shots and those giving the shots.
