Milam County Sheriff resigns post

Milam County Judge Steve Young announced on Monday night that Milam County Sheriff Chris White resigned as of 1 p.m. 

Young said that White cited personal reasons for his leaving and felt it in his and the county’s best interest to step aside at this time. 

White had just been elected to his first full term in office this past November and had ascended to sheriff upon the unfortunate passing of longtime Sheriff David Greene in 2018.

Young said he has named Chief Deputy Mike Clore as interim sheriff and the county commissioners will take up naming a more official replacement at their next meeting. Any appointment to the post will likely only serve until the next election, set for next year.
