Dorothy Lee Guine

Dorothy Lee Guine was born on June 3, 1939, in Yarrelton, to Edward and Igloria Malone. She attended school in Yarrelton. As a child she accepted Jesus Christ.  

“Ms. Dorothy” moved to Cameron as a teenager, where she resided and made an impact in the Cameron community with everyone she met, with her contagious smile.

Ms. Dorothy worked for many years as a Nurse’s Aide at Newton Hospital and Colonial Nursing Home. Her devotion for the elderly inspired her to continue her work in Home Health Care, serving the Cameron community.  Ms. Dorothy also possessed a love and developed a unique ability of being a hairdresser without the aid of any formal training, with a special skill in “press and curl.”

In addition, Ms. Dorothy was active in her home church, Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Cameron for over 40 years.  She was a member of the choir, served on the Finance Committee, and was the secretary of the Sunday School. Her presence was felt at civic and social events in Cameron, and she was a member of the 4-H Extension Club for many years in which she enjoyed the numerous activities and traveling.  She supported the youth of her community and was an example of love, offering wisdom for everyone.

Ms. Dorothy was married to Sneed Burton, and to this union was born her only son, Bobby Ray Burton. She remarried later to Bennie Joe Guine, and they enjoyed 28 years of love, marriage, and family. To this union was born her daughter, Gloria Ann Guine.  

She departed this life to go be with her Lord and Savior on March 24, 2021.  She joined her father, Edward; her mother, Igloria; her sister, Hazel Pearson; her devoted husband, Bennie Joe Guine; her beloved aunt, Thelma Lee Wesley; her brother, Thomas Jones; her special cousin, Lillian Kelly; and niece, Nichelle Jones.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Bobby Ray Burton; her daughter, Gloria Ann Guine Morgan (John); her beloved sister-in-law, Elmorine Jones; four grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
