Mr. Brashear, a retired finance manager, was born Aug. 15, 1942, in Houston to John Wesley and Lorene Caroline (Kirk) Brashear. He married Jacqueline (Jackie) Dusek on Dec. 15, 1960.
He served in the U. S. Army and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cameron where he had served as a deacon.
His brother, Bobby Brashear; and his son, Ronald Ray Brashear Jr. preceded him in death.
He is survived by: his wife, Jackie Brashear of Cameron; son, William Thomas “Tommy” Brashear and wife Angie of Cameron; brothers, John David Brashear of Magnolia and Dan Wesley Brashear of Cameron; sister, Betty Taylor of Houston; three grandchildren, Braden, Nolan and Aubree; and many more cousins, nieces and nephews.
Ronald was passionate about God, America, and family. He loved to spend time watching his sons and grandchildren play sports. When he wasn’t spending time with family, he was either fishing, golfing, studying his coin collection, or spending time at the family farm working cattle and rescuing stray cats. No matter the circumstances, he loved to tell jokes and tall tales to make people laugh—that is what those who loved him will miss most.
Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron is in charge of arrangements.
