McCall named to All-State team
The Yoemen baseball team made a historic run this season and they picked up some special honors on the way.
Not only did they win a district championship as such a young team, but they also advanced all the way to the regional finals where they would lose to the Malakoff Tigers. This team had a phenomenal and historic run, as they were the first Cameron baseball team to go that far in the playoffs since the State Championship team of 2011.
During the offseason, many Cameron baseball players earned the honor of receiving district awards.
Pitcher Brannon McCall was named to Third Team All-State. He was also the District Co-MVP.
All District honors went to:
District Co-MVP: Brannon McCall
District defensive player of the year: Tracer Lopez
First team All-District: Ryan Host, Marino Cardona, Landon Greene, Dillan Akin, and Jaidyn Sanchez
Second team All-District: Adam Cardona and Bobby Borgas
Honorable Mention: Armando Reyes
There were also several Cameron players who made the Academic All-District team: Adam Cardona, Marino Cardona, Landon Greene, Ryan Host, and Esteban Montez.
The Yoemen finished the season ranked number 10 in the state. With nine returners coming back from a regional finalist team next year don’t be shocked to see them ranked in the top 5 next preseason.
