Henry Fuessel Jr.

Funeral service for Henry Fuessel Jr., age 70 of Thorndale, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, 2021, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Pastor Scott Schaller of Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Detmold Cemetery near Thorndale. Visitation is also Monday from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. 

Henry was born June 16, 1951, in Taylor to Erwin Henry and Vangia Lee (Taylor) Fuessel Sr. He was a lifelong Thorndale resident. On June 5, 1971, he and Janette Raven were married in St. John Lutheran Church in Thorndale. He was a farmer who loved what he did every day. For the past several years after his retirement, he helped Greg Hengst with his farm. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, a supporter of Thorndale High School activities, and spent time fishing. 

He passed away early Thursday morning, Nov. 11, 2021, in the Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Round Rock. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Erwin and Vangia Fuessel Sr.; his grandparents; a niece, Ginger Patschke and brother-in-law, Clifford Patschke. 

Surviving is his wife of 50 years, Janette Fuessel of Thorndale; daughters, Kathye Fuessel of Thorndale and Wendy Fuessel Kovar and husband Jason of Thorndale; son, Casey Fuessel of Thorndale; granddaughter, Kennedy Kovar (Henry loved being Kennedy’s PaPa) a brother, Richard Fuessel and wife Gracie of Thorndale; sister, Janice Patschke of Bartlett and a number of nieces and nephews. 

Pallbearers are Jason Kovar, Greg Hengst, Clint Chapman, Butch Fuessel, Carter Travis and Aaron McDaniel. 

Honorary pallbearers are Chad Chapman, Cole Chapman, Paxton Jordan, Ray Lopez and Danny Potts.
