Business of the Month

Classic Bank, formerly known as First National Bank, was one of the first banks in the state to be granted a National Charter. Charter date was issued August 2, 1889, and on August 22, 1889, they opened the banks doors. John M. Hefley invested the $50,000 needed capital for the bank. The history of the bank may be viewed on their website, classicbank.com. The building, presidents, and CEO’s have changed over the 132 years, but the customer service, community support and integrity of this business has held true to the mission statement; it’s about lifelong relationships. Richard Earl Williams, Jr, is third generation in providing leadership within this institution in Cameron. His grandfather Lester Williams became President after returning from WWII in 1946. In 1975 Richard Earl Williams, Sr became President, until his death in 1986. Richard E. Williams, Jr became President in 1998 and served until 2018, and he currently holds the position of Chief Executive Officer of Classic Bank. The City of Cameron and the Cameron Chamber of Commerce are honored to award this 132-year-old institution the November Business of the Month.
