Christmas Parade set for Dec. 2 downtown
There is something new on the courthouse square this week.
The Cameron Chamber of Commerce will celebrate the holiday season with a Santa’s Workshop building that can be yours after Christmas. The United Portable Buildings donated a beautiful red cabin to be used for Santa’s Workshop during the Cameron Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade in December.
The Cameron Chamber of Commerce is super excited to offer the Santa’s workshop in celebration of their Christmas in Toyland themed parade on Dec. 2.
Santa will be in the workshop at the beginning of the parade and after he rides in the parade. Children of all ages are invited to come by and check out the workshop and take a picture with Santa on the night of the parade.
“We were so excited and blessed when we were told that United Portable Buildings were going to donated this to the Chamber to raffle off after Christmas,” Christmas Parade Chair Micah Holcombe said.
The Cameron Chamber is raffling off this cabin for $20 a ticket or six for $100. The building cabin is an 10’ x 12’ red building with a white porch, white trim, and a metal roof. The building value is $6,000.
Tickets are available to purchase at the Chamber of Commerce located on 1st street, or you can purchase from any Chamber board member.
“This cabin would be great for a toy room, a tool room, a garden shed, or even a craft room,” Holcombe said. “Santa’s workshop could be yours! Come get your tickets today!”
The drawing will take place at the Cameron Chamber of Commerce Basketball Classic to be held on Dec. 29 at 5 p.m.
Parade Route
Join the Cameron Chamber of Commerce in downtown Cameron for their annual Christmas Parade on Dec. 2. Activities begin on the downtown square at 5 p.m.
Due to water line repairs and the Street under construction, there is a modified parade route this year.
Parade Line Up starts at 5:30 p.m. on West Main Street as usual. After that, the parade will begin at 6:30 PM and make its way to the downtown square, where many activities will be happening.
The parade starting point is the same as in the past, at the intersection of Crockett and Main, then will proceed east on Main Street and turn left onto S. Travis, then proceeds to turn right onto 1st Street, crossing Houston, and continuing to Fannin. The parade will turn right on Fannin, then right onto Main Street, and the final turn will be left onto S. Houston before exiting on Gillis and Tyson.
There are lots of activities in the square with Santa and Santa’s Workshop, Artists, Crafters, Triple C Wine Wagon, 5D Travlein’ Tavern, Kona Ice, Rockdale Coffee Roasters, Hot Corners and Jazzy J’s Southern Way Food Trucks, children furniture, and wooden toys, face painting and more.
