COVID cases reach another record in Milam County

Milam County recorded another new record for COVID cases on Thursday.

There are currently 365 active cases in the county as of Thursday night.

“Today we have 94 new cases to report and 67 cases to discharge, leaving 365 active confirmed cases in Milam County,” Milam County Judge Steve Young said Thursday night. “This is another new record number of case and the fourth record we have set this month. Four individuals were hospitalized, which brings the total to 13.  Four of those are in serious condition. There are no new deaths.”

Young said the county’s infusion clinic is open for business and it has the effective drug for the Omicron variant.  Call (512) 853-0308 for information. It is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday.

The next testing event will be in Cameron on Monday at the Cameron VFD at 1505 N Travis, Cameron, instead of Rockdale due to the expected inclement weather.  The county will test in Rockdale next Thursday at the former hospital.

Testing is free for any Milam County resident.   Vaccine clinics will be held on the following dates: Tuesday, Jan. 25, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1700 Brazos Ave, Rockdale, Rockdale Medical Clinic; and Friday, Jan. 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 710 W 2nd St, Cameron, Cameron First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.

Clinics are open to residents at least 12 years of age and shots are free to the public.

A Pediatric Clinic will be held on Jan. 26 from 3-7 p.m. at the Milam County Health Department, 209 S. Houston Avenue in Cameron.
