Gary Bankston

Gary Bankston, age 72 of Cameron passed away Monday, June 20, 2022, in the Baylor Scott & White Hospital in College Station. 

Graveside services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, June 27, 2022, at Sand Grove Cemetery near Milano with his son Dale Bankston and his brother John David Bankston officiating. Visiting and Fellowship is also Monday from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. 

Mr. Bankston was born June 26, 1949, in Houston to John Claude and Lottie Pearl (Diver) Bankston. He has lived in Cameron the past 15 years. Gary was a very skilled Industrial Painter and Sandblaster. He worked for 40 years in the Industrial plant, residential and commercial construction sectors across Texas. He and Jeffie Hudman were married in 1967. He had an incredible love for his family, friends, music, sports (especially baseball) and having a good time. He never met a person he couldn’t make laugh. 

He is preceded in death by his wife, Jeffie Bankston in 2004; his parents; a granddaughter, Liberty Reisner in 2010; and his companion, Kay Fisher. 

Surviving is his son, Dale Bankston and wife Christy of Cypress; his daughter, Lori Kirk and husband Kooter of Cameron; brother, John David Bankston of Milano; eight grandchildren, Shelby Bankston, Perry Reynolds and husband Jacob, Devinne Reisner, Hagen Kirk, Hanson Kirk, Judilynn Kirk, Gatlynn Kirk and Suede Kirk; and one great-grandson, Jhett Thomas Bankston.
