TxDOT to shift traffic on US 79 today

Beginning Thursday night, July 28, the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) contractor will shift traffic on US 79 to the north side of the road between Rice Street and US 77 in Rockdale. The shift will allow work crews to finish improvements on the south side US 79. Access will be maintained to properties within the project limits.
This construction is part of the US 79 sidewalk and lighting improvement project awarded to Big Creek Construction for $4.5 million. This project is a partnership between TxDOT and the City of Rockdale and is anticipated to be complete in early 2023.
