Lady Yoe defeat Rogers, Tucker gets 1,000 kills
The Cameron Lady Yoe volleyball team hosted the Roger Lady Eagles on Tuesday for Dig Pink night. The Lady Yoe swept Rogers 3-0.
The first point of the first set went to Rogers. The set stayed even until Cameron took an 8-5 lead. The Lady Yoe would come up with a kill from Haley Tucker (6) for an 11-9 lead, followed by a block from Lauren Harris (9) to make the score 12-9. Cameron extended their lead with an ace from Tucker to make the score 17-11, followed with a kill by Kaly White (3) to make it an 18-12 lead. Cameron’s lead expanded to 21-14, and kept expanding with a kill by Ainsley Driska (4) for a 23-17 lead. The Lady Yoe went on to win the first set 25-17 on an ace by Driska.
The first point of the second set went to Cameron on a kill from Tucker, but it was no ordinary point. This kill by Tucker was much more monumental as this kill marked number 1,000 for her Lady Yoe career. The set was tied at two with help from an incredible dig by Harris. Cameron built off of that with an ace by Tucker for a 4-2 lead, which was soon followed with a kill by Sydni Smith (1) for a 7-4 lead. The Lady Yoe pulled away and their lead grew to double digits at 14-4, which was soon followed with a kill by Driska to make it a 17-5 lead. Rogers tried to storm back and the score became 20-12, however, Cameron stopped their momentum with a kill by Smith for a 21-12 lead, soon to follow was a kill by Driska to make the lead 23-14. The Lady Yoe went on to win the second set 25-17.
The first point of the third set went to Rogers. The set stayed even until Cameron took a 10-7 lead. The Lady Yoe extended the lead to13-9 with an ace by Tucker and continued to extend it to 18-9. Rogers tried to rally back but Cameron would get a kill by Driska for a 21-14 lead. The Lady Yoe won the third set 25-15 on a kill by Tucker to complete the sweep.
The Lady Yoe traveled to Troy on Saturday to take on the Trojanettes. They would take their first district loss of the season and fall 3-1. They lost the first set 25-17, lost the second set 25-22, won the third set 27-25, and lost the fourth set 25-15.
Coming up next for the Lady Yoe will be a game at home as they host the Lorena Lady Leopards. The game will be on Friday and is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.
