Former commissioner sentenced for fraud

Former Milam County Commissioner, Donald Ray Shuffield, age 70 of Cameron, plead Nolo Contendre to the Class A Misdemeanor offense of Attempted Fraudulent Use of Identifying Information – Elderly, this morning in Judge John W. Youngblood’s 20th District Court.

He was sentenced to one day in the Milam County Jail and was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine and court costs.

The Texas Rangers investigated, and District Attorney Bill Torrey prosecuted the case against Shuffield.
