Juneteenth program set at museum

On Tuesday, June 13 at 6 p.m. join the Milam County Historical Museum for a special Juneteenth presentation. 

This event will feature guest speaker Elissa Benford-Roberts. She will relay stories and show artifacts from her ancestor, Coach William “Bill” Moultrie. 

Coach Moultrie, a native Texan, was a track and field coach for several prestigious schools including Stanford and Howard Universities. He gained notoriety as the first African American track referee at the Olympic Games. 

Moultrie was inducted into the US Track and Field Hall of Fame, as well as acquiring many other awards and accolades. 

The public is invited to hear this special tribute hosted by the MCHM at 112 W 1st Street in Cameron. Admission is free.
