$10,4000 in scholarships given to area college students to Honor Christine Holcombe

The Christine Holcombe Memorial scholarship fund has awarded 13 Milam County college students a total of $11,400 in scholarships.  The collegiate scholarship fund was established in honor of longtime Milam County extension agent Christine Holcombe who lost her battle with cancer in 2013.  

Over the past ten years the Chris Holcombe Memorial Scholarship has awarded $132,800 in scholarships to Milam County college students. 

Here is a list of the 2023 Chris Holcombe Memorial Scholarship recipients:

$1,000 Scholarships

Arianna Eastridge of Rockdale attends the University of Texas and wants to get a degree in Applied Learning and Development, ESL for preK-6

 Simon Ramirez of Cameron attends the University of New Mexico and and is working towards his bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in finance and a minor in economics.

 Mallory McDaniel of Rockdale attends Harvard University and wants to become a pediatrician.   

Alexis Magree of Cameron is attending medical school at Texas A&M University and wants to become a physician.

Gabriel Ranthum of Buckholts attends Texas A&M University and wants to work in groundwater management and conservation.

 

$800 Scholarships

 Theodore Dean Johnson of Thorndale attends Texas A&M University and working towards a business marketing degree. He hopes to work in advertising.

Alexandra Kunze of Thorndale wants to work in Sports Broadcasting and Sports Social Media. She attends the University of Texas at Austin.

Brandi Drake of Cameron attends Fort Scott Community College and wants to work as an accountant or business analyst.

Jaylyn Stutts of Thorndale wants to be a nurse.  She is attending Tarleton State University.

Emilee Baker of Thorndale attends Texas State University in the college of education.  She would like to become an athletic director.

 

$500 Scholarships 

 Nikolas Keratsopouls of Cameron attends the University Mary Hardin-Baylor.  He is getting his masters in Exercise Physiology.

Hunter Hux of Cameron is getting a degree in construction science from Tarleton State University. 

Colby Barton of Cameron is working towards a degree in agri-business at Texas A&M University.  He hopes to become an ag broadcaster.
