Yoemen fall to Yoakum on the road

The Cameron Yoemen football team traveled to take on the Yoakum Bulldogs on Friday. Cameron was defeated by Yoakum 41-20. 

Cameron put themselves on the scoreboard first with a 38-yard touchdown pass from Braylan Drake to Kason Goolsby for a 7-0 lead. The Bulldogs responded with a 70-yard touchdown pass to tie the score at 7. 

Yoakum then took the lead on a 45-yard touchdown pass to make the score 14-7. The Bulldogs increased their lead with an interception returned for a touchdown to take a 20-7 lead after a missed extra point.

Yoakum started the scoring in the second quarter with a 71-yard touchdown run to take a 27-7 lead. Cameron scored within the last two minutes of the first half with a 49-yard touchdown pass from Drake to Ja’Quorius Hardman for a 27-14 deficit going into halftime. 

The Yoemen began the scoring in the third quarter with an 18-yard touchdown pass from Drake to Hardman to make the score 27-20 after a missed extra point. Yoakum shut Cameron down the rest of the game and scored 14 unanswered points to win 41-20. 

Despite throwing three interceptions, Braylan Drake played well, throwing for 199 yards and three touchdowns. Kardarius Bradley also played well, rushing for 63 yards. Kason Goolsby played great, catching three passes for 55 yards and a touchdown. Ja’Quorius Hardman also had a great game, catching four passes for 94 yards and two touchdowns. 

Up next, the Yoemen will travel to Waco to take on the Connally Cadets. The game will be on Friday and kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
