Yoemen fall to Waco Connally

The Cameron Yoemen lost a 24-22 halftime lead to fall to the Waco Connally Cadets 59-38 on Friday nigh in Waco. 

Connally started the scoring with a 5-yard touchdown run for an 8-0 lead following a two-point conversion. 

Cameron responded with a 74-yard touchdown pass from Braylan Drake to D’Auntray Bradley to make the score 8-6 after a failed two-point conversion. The Cadets answered with a 67-yard touchdown run to take a 15-6 lead. 

The Yoemen started the second quarter with 15 unanswered points to take a 21-15 lead. Connally responded with a 68-yard touchdown run to retake the lead 22-21. 

Cameron answered with a 21-yard field goal by Homero Najera to go up 24-22 going into halftime. 

The Cadets started the third quarter with 16 unanswered points to take a 38-24 lead. Cameron broke the drought with a 93-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Ja’Quorius Hardman to make it a 38-31 deficit. 

Connally extended their lead on a 72-yard touchdown run to make it a 45-31 lead. Cameron responded with an 11-yard touchdown pass from Braylan Drake to Kason Goolsby to close the gap to 45-38. 

The Cadets shut the Yoemen in the fourth quarter 14-0 to hold on and win 59-38. 

Braylan Drake had an incredible game, throwing for 242 yards and three touchdowns with an interception, along with rushing for 16 yards. D’Auntray Bradley also had a great game with 74 yards receiving and a touchdown. Zach Evans was also very productive, rushing for 118 yards.

Up next, the Yoemen will host the Bellville Brahmas on Friday, Sept. 15, at 7:30 p.m.
