Cameron home total loss Monday after fire

A Cameron home is a total loss after a fire on Monday afternoon.

The Cameron Volunteer Fire Department responded about 12:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, to reports of a structure fire in the 900 block of South Burleson.

Cameron Assistant Fire Chief John Mendoza said crews arrived to find a working fire at a single-wide mobile home with the bedroom area fully involved.

Crews made a direct attack from outside to weaken the fire while also putting out an outdoor shed that caught fire. After the shed was out, Mendoza said crews made entry for an interior attack to put out the blaze.

The home is being termed a total loss due to the amount of water and fire damage.

Due to the water main break in Cameron, Rosebud VFD responded with a tanker to aid in supplying water to fight the fire.

Mendoza said a family of five, including four kids, was home at the time and made it out unharmed. There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to donate to the family at the following link: https://gofund.me/80638934

Non-monetary donations are also being accepted at Cameron Beer Market according to their Facebook page.
