Fritz, Veach win runoff election

Milam County voters decided two local races on Tuesday in a Primary Runoff Election.
Melissa Fritz defeated Frank Summers to win the race for County Tax Assessor/Collector.
Fritz had 705 votes and Summers had 550 votes in the Republican Primary.
Fritz will take longtime Tax Assessor Sherry Mueck’s place. She retired earlier this year. There were no candidates in the Democratic race so, Fritz will take the office.
In the race for County Constable, Precinct 2, in the Republican Primary Richard Doug Veach defeated Carlton R. Scott.
Veach got 223 votes and Scott got 107 votes.
There is not Democratic challenger for November.
