Over $11K in scholarships awarded to area students

The Christine Holcombe Memorial scholarship fund has awarded 11 Milam County college students a total of $11,250 in scholarships.  

The collegiate scholarship fund was established in honor of longtime Milam County extension agent Christine Holcombe who lost her battle with cancer in 2013.  

Over the past eleven years the Chris Holcombe Memorial Scholarship has awarded $144,050 in scholarships to Milam County college students.

Ann Warrick is studying Ag Business and Finance at Texas A&M University.  Ann is from Cameron and graduated from Yoe High School.

Brandi Drake of Cameron is studying Business administration and finance at the University of Texas at Tyler. She wants to become a financial advisor

Corbin Pruesse of Thorndale attends Texas A&M University.  He is working towards a Bachelor of Science in Poultry Science and Animal Science and hopes to be an animal reproductive or nutrition specialist.

Jordan Lopez attends Texas State University studying in the College of Fine Arts and Communication. The Cameron native wants to be a school administrator.

 Emilee Baker of Thorndale attends Texas State University is studying Health and Fitness Management with a minor in Business Administration.  She would like to be an athletic director.

Colby Barton of Cameron is studying Agri Business at Texas A&M University. He hopes to pursue a career in sales or banking.

Gabriel Ramthun of Buckholts attends Texas A&M University studying in the College of Life and Ag Sciences.  He hopes to pursue a career in research in plant and environmental soil science.

Sydni Smith of Cameron is studying Agricultural Business at Texas A&M University.  She hopes to pursue a degree in bovine pharmaceuticals.

Pablo Rodriguez is working towards his Masters of Business Administration.  The Cameron native attends Lamar University.

Hunter Hux of Cameron is attending Tarleton State University.  He is studying Construction Science and Management as part of Tarleton’s Engineering school.

Mallory McDaniel of Rockdale attends Harvard University and wants to become a pediatrician.  She is studying human development and regenerative biology in the Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology Department.
