Yoemen fall to Sealy in home opener

The Cameron Yoemen football team returned home for their home opener on Friday, Sept. 6, against the Sealy Tigers. Cameron was defeated by Sealy, losing 48-13.

The Yoemen started strong in the first quarter with an explosive 70-yard run from Cade Hubnik to the Sealy 6-yard line. That was followed by a 6-yard touchdown run from Tim Grice Jr. for a 7-0 lead. That fast start did not last as the Tigers responded in a big way, scoring 21 unanswered points to go into halftime leading 21-7.

The second half began with Sealy continuing the damage, outscoring the Yoemen 27-6 to win the game 48-13.

The lone highlight of the second half was a rushing touchdown from Hubnik in the fourth quarter. Cade Hubnik struggled throwing the ball, just throwing for 29 yards. He made up for it with his running game, rushing for 153 yards and a touchdown.

Tim Grice Jr. also ran the ball well, rushing for 59 yards and a touchdown.

With this loss, Cameron now has a record of 0-2.

Next up for the Yoemen will be a road game against the Maypearl Panthers. The game will be Friday, Sept. 13, and kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The school is located at 600 Phillips Street, Maypearl, TX 76064.
