Albert August Weller
Services for Albert August Weller, age 84 of Minerva, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Pastor Luther Shelander of Mt. Zion Baptist Church officiating. Burial in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Minerva. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021, at the funeral home.
Albert Weller, also known as Hootie, was born Jan. 14, 1937, in Galina Park to August Henry and Emma (Gotthard) Weller. He served in the U.S. Army for Aug. 30, 1955, to Aug. 15, 1958. On August 26, 1960, he and Marilyn L. Wolfe were married in Richmond and Rosenburg. They came to Rockdale where he worked as a welder with Alcoa and currently worked in the garden center at Walmart in Rockdale. He is a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Hootie is a member of Rockdale Masonic Lodge #214, Cameron Masonic Lodge #170 and Thorndale Masonic Lodge #978.
He passed away Friday night, Sept. 17, 2021, at his home in Minerva.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Kay Weller; parents, A.H. and Emma Weller; four brothers; three sisters; and a special sister-in-law.
Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Marilyn Weller of Minerva; daughters, Tina Lopez and husband Thomas of Minerva and Robin Heintze and husband Scott of Sharp; sons, Stuart Wolfe and fiancé Lesley of Austin and Jeff Oertli and wife Lisa of Rockdale; brother, Henry Weller and wife Dawn of Onalaska; sisters, Dorothy Campion of College Station and Dineen Devine of Washington State; eight grandchildren, Vivian Martinez, Aaron, Ashley and Meka Oertli of Rockdale, Rachel and Edward Flores of Brenham, Justin and Esperanza Gonzales of Rockdale, Pete and Mackenzie Heintze of Taylor, Nickie and Matt Bell of Rockdale; and nine great-grandchildren, Jase, Elijah, Madison, Arianna, Hadley, Zayne/(Little Hootie), Brian, Lane and Samuel.
Pallbearers are Pete Heintze, Dustin Gonzales, Matthew Bell, Edward Flores, Brian Bell, Aaron Oertli, Sam Bell and Lane Bell.
