Augustine Joseph Marek

Augustine Joseph Marek, 95, of Temple and formerly of Buckholts, died Thursday, July 4, 2019, in a Temple assisted living center. 

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Cameron with Rev. Edwin Kagoo officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Monica Cemetery. Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Monday with a rosary/wake service beginning at 7 p.m. at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.

Mr. Marek, a retired auto mechanic, was born Aug. 14, 1923, in Buckholts to Joe J. and Albina (Ermis) Marek. He married Myrtle Beaty on Feb. 23, 1949. Mr. Marek was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of St. Monica Catholic Church. 

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Felix, Frankie and Willie Marek. 

He is survived by: his wife Myrtle Marek of Temple; sons, Kenneth Marek and wife Shirley of Rogers, and Johnny Marek and wife Beverly of San Marcos; daughters, Marilyn Brazeal of Buckholts, Jeanie Pegues and husband Michael of Salado, and Linda Barganier and husband Grady of Temple; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Monica’s Catholic Church or to the Buckholts Volunteer Fire Department.

Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron is in charge of arrangements.
