Carol Jean (C.J.) Kretschmar Lucksinger-Hogue

Carol Jean (C.J.) Kretschmar Lucksinger-Hogue passed away at the age of 68 years old, after a battle with cancer on Aug. 25, 2022, at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston.  She was born Nov. 25, 1953, in Cameron, to Theresa and Adolph Alois Kretschmar.

C.J. graduated from C.H. Yoe High School in 1972, and received a Bachelors of Science degree from Texas A&M University in 1994.  She began teaching in the fall of 1994, and taught for 25 years.  Over the course of her teaching career she was a middle school teacher at Fairway Middle School in Killeen, and then taught at Audie Murphy Middle school in Fort Hood, and last was a high school teacher at Harker Heights High School in Harker Heights.  She retired in 2019 after 25 years of service.

C.J. was passionate about her family, and would do anything for them.  She loved being around her family, and would organize the annual family get together at Thanksgiving.  She loved going to Vegas with her husband Jack, once or twice a year.  She was a huge New Orleans Saints fan and dedicated Texas A&M Aggie fan, and she would let you know it during football season.  She was an avid gardener, and enjoyed doing crafts and playing golf.  She loved her animals, and being outdoors.  C.J. was a Christian and member of the Saint Andrews United Methodist Church in Killeen.

C.J. was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Hogue; and her parents, Adolph and Theresa Kretschmar.

Survivors include: daughter, Robin Patterson and husband Scott of Killeen; granddaughters, Kayla Goulden and husband Andrew of Killeen and Emerald Satterfield of Cypress; brothers:, Ronald Kretschmar of Cameron, Robert Kretschmar of Cameron, Gregory Kretschmar and wife Audi of San Antonio and Andrew Kretschmar and wife Sondra of San Marcos; sisters, Charlene Vogelsang and husband John Andy of Ben Arnold and Cynthia Lowery of Waxahachie; seven nieces and five nephews; several great nieces and nephews; along with many cousins and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 2, 2022, from 5-7 p.m., and services will be held Saturday, Sept. 3, 2022, at 10 a.m., both at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home, 506 N 38th St, Killeen, TX 76543. After the service a private graveside service will be held at Killeen Cemetery for the family.  

Pallbearers will be: Jonathan Vogelsang, Dustin Lowery, Zachary Kretschmar, Levi Wigley, Andrew Goulden, and T.J. Pole.
