Charles “Chuck” Olbrich
Funeral services for Charles “Chuck” Olbrich will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Pastor Scott Schaller of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale officiating. Burial will follow in the Thorndale City Cemetery in Thorndale.
Chuck was born Nov. 8, 1956, in Taylor, to Carl Howard and Margie Mae (Newman) Olbrich. He was a graduate of Thorndale High School and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He was a Maintenance Superintendent with Sandow where he had worked 42 years. On Feb. 14, 1981, he married his sweetheart, Peggy Jo Wilkins in Thorndale.
Chuck was such a wonderful husband, father, son and friend. He loved his wife, mother and kids more than anything. He loved going to arts and crafts shows, and the River Walk in San Antonio. He could build anything his kids could dream up, even with the annoying X’s that are on it (he hated these). He always had another project he would come up with probably in his sleep and then wouldn’t sleep until it was done. He hated sitting at home, always wanting to go eat, travel or spend hours looking around at Home Depot.
He did like to relax though and watch his favorite shows with his two dogs sitting right next to him. He would give his shirt off his back to anyone in need. He worked all his life to provide for his family, and to buy his crazy shirts we all know Chuck liked to wear. Chuck always thought he was Batman as many of us knew by his tattoos. Our Batman, husband, dad and son may be gone from this earth, but he is forever with us.
He passed away Friday night, Sept. 6, 2019, in the Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Taylor, at the age of 62. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Olbrich and his sister, Marlene Drummond.
Surviving are his wife, Peggy Olbrich of Thorndale; sons, Ryan Olbrich and wife Laura of Spicewood, and Jordan Olbrich of Westminster, Colo.; daughter, Heather Olbrich of Kyle; and his mother, Margie Olbrich of Thorndale.
