Cynthia “Cindy” Stevens

Service for Cynthia “Cindy” Stevens, 57, of Temple, will be Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020, at 10 a.m. at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church in Cameron, with Rev. W.E. Robertson, officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron.

Cynthia “Cindy” Joyce Stevens was born the third child and first daughter of Kenneth L. Sr. and Letricia P. Stevens on April 25, 1963, in Frankfurt, Germany.

She received her education from OJ Thomas Junior High and CH Yoe High in Cameron before moving to Temple and graduating from Temple High School in 1981.

She gave her life to Christ at an early age, baptized at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member of the youth choir. Upon moving to Temple, she united with Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member of the combined choir and the Lucille Robertson Praise Dance team.

She worked for Baylor Scott and White Hospital for over 20 years. Initially in the emergency room and later on moving to labor and delivery until her recent illness.

Cindy’s love for her sons was outstanding and there was nothing she would not do for them. She was an amazing grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will truly be missed.

Ms. Stevens was preceded in death by her parents; both maternal and paternal grandparents; and a niece.

God called his angel home on Thanksgiving Day Nov. 26, 2020.

She leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, De Andre’ Stevens (Beth) and Dalvin Brown, both of Temple; two brothers, Gerry Stevens of Los Angeles, Calif., and Kenneth L. Stevens Jr. of Houston; four sisters, Deemeeteria Stevens and Aleshia Stevens, both of Temple, and Tezlyn Harris (Roderick) and Tiffany Lewis, both of Dallas; three granddaughters, Brooklyn Stevens of Austin, and Peyton and Kaydence Arrington of Temple; step-mom, Pastor Delbra Stevens of Dallas; maternal aunt, Lamonia Snodgrass; a bonus son, Christopher Freeman; a devoted friend, Ormeshia McSwain; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, and one great-great-nephew.

Viewing and visitation will be Friday, Dec. 4, 2020, from 4-6 p.m. at Don D. Summers Funeral Chapel in Temple. Don D. Summers Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
