Dorothy Mae (Rodenbeck) Leschber
Dorothy Mae (Rodenbeck) Leschber, 93, of Thorndale, passed away on Monday, Feb. 15, 2021.
Dorothy was born on the family farm just north of Thorndale on June 9, 1927, to the late Elmo and Martha (Kerlin) Rodenbeck. She graduated from Thorndale High School. She married Harry Fred Leschber on Oct. 16, 1948; they were married for 45 years until Harry’s death in 1994.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother for her family and spent her time as a homemaker and working on the family farm. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also looked forward to her nephew and his friends coming each year for the annual dove hunts.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Dennis Leschber and wife Darnell of Caldwell; daughter, Nadine French of The Woodlands; her brother, Harvey (Dick) Rodenbeck and wife Violet of Lakehills; her sister, Betty Hirt and husband Melvin of Thorndale; two grandsons, Brian Leschber and wife Samantha of College Station, and Jason French and wife Shanna of Cypress. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Gavin French, Wyatt French, Luke French, Caroline Leschber, and a great-grandson due in July; and five nephews, three nieces and numerous other great-nephews and nieces and friends.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Leschber; her parents, Elmo and Martha Rodenbeck; and son-in-law, David French.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 26, 2021, from 6-8 p.m. at Condra Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Detmold Cemetery. Brian Leschber, Jason French, Rick Rodenbeck, Larry Leschber, Emory Leschber, Max Kattner, and Rex Hirt will serve as representative pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes you consider making a memorial donation in Dorothy’s honor to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Thorndale, Texas.
The family of Dorothy Mae Leschber wishes to thank everyone that played a part in Dorothy’s life. The times we all shared with her created lifetime memories that she relived many times and they gave her much joy. Thank you all.
