James Albert Lucas Jr.

James Albert Lucas Jr. (Jim) passed away April 22, 2019, at the age of 76.

A Celebration of Life service was held on Friday, April 26, 2019, in Fort Worth. 

James was born in San Antonio to Roma and James Albert Lucas where he spent his youth.  He was actively involved in the roller skating community for many years.  He competed in roller speed skating and artistic roller skating until he joined the Navy at age 20.  James served as an Electronics Technician, Second Class from 1963 to 1967 and received an honorable discharge. He retired from the US Post Office after more than 20 years of service in Rowlett. 

Throughout his life, James pursued a number of hobbies including cooking and hiking.  He was a voracious reader to the end and also thoroughly enjoyed all forms of word games and puzzles.  For the last four years, he has lived with and helped care for his mother and step-father, Roma and Barney Bowman, in Watauga.

James was preceded in death by his father. 

He is survived by his mother and step-father, Roma and Barney Bowman; his two brothers and their wives, Charles and Barbara Lucas, and Walter and Jenny Lucas; a daughter, Kathy; nieces, Gypsy Lucas, Rebecca Taylor, Kara Cole and Kerry Olson.

Memorials are requested to be made to the National Museum of Roller Skating, 4730 South Street, Lincoln, NE  68506, in lieu of flowers.
