JOHN EVERETT COMBS

John Everett Combs, III, 60 of Nolanville died April 4, 2025, in a Temple Veterans Hospital due to liver cancer even though he did not drink or smoke.

Memorial services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron. Burial will be a later time in the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.

Mr. Combs was born Nov. 16, 1964, in France to John Everett Combs Jr. and Benedicte Retrou. He married Virginia Asdourian Aug. 7, 1987. John Combs spent his early life serving in the U.S. Army, traveling across Europe before settling down in Nolanville, Texas. He also worked for McLanes as a food selector/processor. He enjoyed his days being outside and active. He loved his food, and loved to cook. He was gone too soon.

He is survived by: his wife, Virginia Combs of Nolanville; sons, Travis Combs of Cameron and Joshua Combs of Round Rock; daughter, Laura Beth Combs of Austin; mother, Benedicte Retrou of Montgomery, Ala.; sister, Veronique Harris of Montgomery, Ala.; and two grandchildren, Noah and Delilah Combs.

Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
