Kelley A. Barrett

Kelley A. Barrett, of Thorndale, died unexpectedly on June 11, 2020, at the age of 45.

Kelley was born in Houston on April 4, 1975. He graduated from South Houston High School in 1993 and worked at Toy ‘R’ Us, Charlie Thomas Dealership, and Phelps State Farm Insurance. He attended Universal Technical Institute from July 1998 to May 1999 and completed the HVAC/R Technician program. Upon completion, he moved to Austin and started his HVAC career with Strand Brothers and ended it working at Round Rock ISD as a HVAC Maintenance Tech.

On March 16, 2002, he married Anita, and they moved to Thorndale. On June 25, 2004, and May 31, 2008, respectively, he welcomed Wylie and Harleigh, who were his pride and joy!

Kelley was a devoted husband and father. He attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylor, where he served as an usher and helped with the Youth Group. He was an unwavering fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed listening to old country music and some of his favorite singers are Chris LeDoux and Tracy Byrd. He loved to play video games with his kids, watch Star Wars and John Wayne movies, and work on his farm. He enjoyed attending his kids’ 4-H contests and livestock shows, their extracurricular activities, and spending time with loved ones. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

Kelley is survived by his wife, Anita Barrett (Meinardus); his children, Wylie and Harleigh Barrett; his parents, Michael and Joyce Barrett of Pasadena; his brother, Brandt Barrett (wife Patti) and nieces Morgan, Della and CoraLee of Pearland; and beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and loved ones. 

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Shirley Barrett of Houston; and Ronald and Winifred Vashaw of Austin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to American Heart Association or Trinity Lutheran Church.
