Margie Olbrich

Margie Olbrich went to meet her family in heaven on Feb. 15, 2020. 

On Nov. 23, 1924, Margie was born to Frank and Lena Newman in Thorndale. Margie had four sisters; Nora, Nannie, Edna and Frances and one brother Frank Jr.  Margie married Carl Howard Olbrich on May 31, 1942.

She was blessed with two children, Marlene Drummond and Charles Olbrich, and don’t forget her fur baby, Misty. She was blessed to have five grandkids, Ryan Olbrich and wife Laura, Jordan Olbrich, Heather Olbrich, Brian Drummond and wife Dana and Tamara "Prissy" Bunner and husband Don; four great-grandkids, Brian Jr. and wife Amanda, Desiree Kitchens and husband Blake, Brittany White and husband Matthew, and Trey Lopez; and eight great-great-grandkids, Whitney and Reed Drummond, Bryce and Braden Kitchens, Hadliegh, Lainey Mae and Weston White and Emery Lopez. 

Margie was a lifelong resident of Thorndale and class of 1942. She owned multiple bars and cafes with her husband, also working at Thorndale Independent School District in the cafeteria.  She was known by all as a strong, sweet and hard headed woman. She wanted to do everything on her own, mowing her grass and making her yard as beautiful as possible.  She enjoyed playing rummy, dominos and UNO with her grandkids and laughing when she whooped our butts.  She loved hanging out with her best friends Elvira Calvin and Donna Fisher.

A celebration of Margie’s life will be held at St. Paul Cemetery Friday, Feb. 21, 2020, at 3 p.m. where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband
