Miguel Vargas Sr. 

Miguel Vargas Sr., 82, of Cameron, died Thursday, July 28, 2022, at his home.  Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 1, 2022, at St. Monica Catholic Church.  Burial followed in the St. Monica Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday, July 31, with a Rosary at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home.

Mr. Vargas, a retired plumber, was born May 8, 1940, in Cameron to Anastacio Vargas Sr. and Juanita Gonzales Vargas.  He had been married to Alberta Martinez for 63 years and was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church.  

He is survived by his wife, Alberta M. Vargas of Cameron; sons, Miguel Vargas Jr. and wife Cora of Temple and Chris Vargas and wife Arcelia of Cameron; daughters, Lupe Vargas of Cameron and Mary E. Castillo and husband Manuel of Cameron; brothers, Jose Vargas and wife Josie of Rogers and Juan Vargas of Cameron; sisters, Adela Corona of Cameron and Elpidia Fenton and husband Fred of Pennsylvania; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron is in charge of arrangements.
