Miriam Jean (Heinz) Blaney

Miriam Jean (Heinz) Blaney, 75, of College Station, lost her battle against COVID-19 complications and passed away peacefully in her sleep while under hospice care at her home on Aug. 25, 2022. Jean was born in Milano to the late Frank Benard Heinz and Miriam Edith (Morgan) Heinz on May 13, 1947.  

Jean grew up in Milano but graduated from Terry Parker High School in Jacksonville, Fla. She then went on to further her education and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Sam Houston State University on Jan. 24, 1969. Jean went on to teach elementary education and special education in the Killeen, Houston, and Cameron Independent School Districts. After leaving the education field, she went on to become a successful business woman in the real estate field in Milam and Brazos counties. 

Jean loved cooking, botany, reading, listening to music, attending music concerts, dancing, and watching soap operas and sitcoms. She had a passion for traveling and being a military wife. One of her greatest joys was playing with her grandchildren.

Jean married the love of her life, Richard Allan Blaney, on Aug.t 8, 1970, and they had three daughters together.

The precious memories of Jean are remembered by her daughters, Judge Cherami Blaney Jenkins and spouse Ryan Jenkins of Fort Worth, Donna Jean Sessums and spouse Billy Sessums of Calvert, and Stephanie Lynn Lampe and spouse Jason Lampe of College Station; grandchildren, Crandall Jenkins and spouse Jessica Carvalho Jenkins of Euless, Victoria Jenkins and boyfriend Alex Kessler of Fort Worth, Bryant Sessums of Calvert, Joshua Lampe of College Station, and Gracelyn “Cupcake” Lampe of College Station; and sisters, Loretta Charpiot of Seabrook, and Edna Lyons and spouse Ronnie Lyons Sr. of Milano. Jean is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Jean is preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard Allan Blaney of almost 50 years; her parents; and her niece, Ellen Lyons.

Pallbearers include Garland Charpiot, Brant Charpiot, Kelly Charpiot, Ronnie Lyons, Jr., Cat Montelongo, and Danny Andrews.  Honorary pallbearers include James Walker, Bobby Willams, David Hertenberger, Alvie Morgan, Jim Ruzicka, and Robert Griffith.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 30, from 6-8 p.m. at Hillier of College Station.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 31, at 2 p.m. at Hillier of College Station and interment will follow at the Aggie Field of Honor. Following the graveside will be a reception at the VFW at 794 N Harvey Mitchell Pkwy, Bryan, Texas.
