Vernetha Pauline Moerbe

Vernetha Pauline Moerbe, 89, of Thorndale, passed away on Wednesday July 13, 2022.

Vernetha was born in Comal County Texas on Feb. 21, 1933, to Emil and Pauline Ludwig Brandt. She married Wilburn Moerbe on Nov. 11, 1972; they were married for 24 years, after having been engaged for 12 or 14 years.

She worked as a Bookkeeper for JC Penney for five years and on July 8, 1963; she started working for the Martin Rodenbeck Family, where she worked for many, many years. Vernetha was never one to stand still. She loved having adventures with her friends, gambling, and would never turn down a cold beer. She was a life member of the VFW Aux, and served as its president and secretary. She was involved with the Chamber of Commerce, ST. Paul Lutheran Church, and Thorndale Cares.

Vernetha is survived by her nieces, JoAnne Buzan and husband Tony and Becky Cmerek and husband Mike; her nephew, Steve Clark; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilburn; her sister and brother-in-law, Earlean and Tony Stowe; her niece, Sheridan Ann Allen; her nephews, Russel, Shelby, and David Stowe; and her great-niece, Hope.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 18, 2022, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale. Burial will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be, Larry Clark, Dave Haskins, Weldon Hines, Gerald Niemtschk, and Jake Ging. Honorary pallbearers are Steve Clark, Tony Buzan, Mike Cmerek, and Jamie Buzan.
