Vicki Lee Kirk Henson

On Oct. 4, 2020, Vicki Lee Kirk Henson, loving daughter, cherished sister and fun loving aunt, passed away at the age of 65. Vicki was born on July 2, 1955, in Cameron to Joy (Stevens) and B.L. ”Dutch” Kirk. She graduated from C.H. Yoe High School in 1973. On Dec. 26, 1991, she married Tommy Lee Henson. She has lived in Thorndale for the past 15 years.

Vicki was affectionately known as “BB” to most that knew her. She had no children but loved her nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews as if they were her own. She always went out of her way to make each and every one of them feel special. And every single one had a unique nickname that only BB could come up with.

Vicki always had trouble sitting still and could be seen mowing her lawn, watering her plants, sitting on her front porch or talking to neighbors (often all at the same time). If she heard the neighbors’ lawn mowers start up, she would start hers and mow again. She was never without a smile on her face and a story to make others laugh. Vicki knew no strangers and loved making new friends. She was quick to dog sit at any time for the whole family or could be found driving all over Milam County to feed animals when people were out of town. She is probably most well-known for her famous “BB Burger.”

It is without a doubt that she has left a lasting impression on everyone that she has met over the years and she will be missed dearly.

Vicki was preceded in death by her father, B.L. ”Dutch” Kirk; and husband, Tommy Lee Henson.

She is survived by her mother, Joy Black of Thorndale; brother, Steve Kirk and wife Kathy of Cameron; brother, Mike Kirk and wife Judy of Cameron; and sister, Karen McCoy and husband Kevin of Thorndale. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews: Mandi Walzel, Erin Schmidt, Kooter Kirk, Keith Kirk, Kelly Sapp, Boots Kirk, Kayla Terry, Jale and Jistol Walzel, Ben and Ellie Schmidt, Hagen, Hanson, Judilynn, Gatlynn, and Suede Kirk, Emma and Jackson Sapp, Ryland, Colten, Briar and Reaven Kirk, and Lawson and Tripp Terry.   A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020, at 11 a.m. at North Elm Cemetery in Cameron. A processional to the cemetery will leave from Marek-Burns-Laywell funeral home in Cameron at 10:30 a.m. if anyone would like to follow. Donations may be made to Vicki Kirk Henson Memorial Fund, ℅ Steve Kirk, 1006 E. 18th street, Cameron, Texas 76520.
