Vivian Reye (Carleton) Kunz

Mrs. Vivian Reye (Carleton) Kunz, 90, of Cameron, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021, at her residence.

Funeral services for Mrs. Kunz were held Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021, at First Baptist Church, Cameron, with Rev. Stephen Kelley officiating. Vivian was laid to rest alongside her beloved Peter at St. Monica’s Cemetery. Visitation with the family was held Saturday from 1-2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, prior to the service.

A lifelong resident of Cameron, she was born March 13, 1930, to Luther and Zelda (Welch) Carleton. She was a 1946 graduate of C. H. Yoe High School. She married the love of her life, Peter Kunz, on June 13, 1953. He preceded her in death only three months ago, on Nov. 17, 2020.

Vivian retired from Cameron Independent School District, after 24 years of service, spending most of her time as secretary at O.J. Thomas Jr. High School. She was the longest standing member of First Baptist Church, where she taught Girl’s Sunday School Class for many years. She had many fond memories of her time as a Sunday School Teacher, and her students. She was also a member of the senior choir at the church. Above all, Vivian loved her family the most. She always insisted on hosting family gatherings and they were the highlights of her life.  She was the ultimate cook, and her family and their friends enjoyed many home-cooked meals from her kitchen. Her children and grandchildren knew they were loved unconditionally.

She is survived by her children, Cindy and Dale Lafferty, Loretta Walthall, and Brenda and Bob Patterson, all of Cameron. She is also survived by one sister, Connie Kuehl, also of Cameron. Also surviving are her six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Duane Carleton, in 1984; and one granddaughter, Sarah Patterson in 2017.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 400 W. Main St., Cameron, Texas, 76520.

Arrangements are under the direction of Green-Patterson Funeral Home, Cameron. Condolences for the family may be left at www.green-pattersonfuneralhome.com.
