Willie Mae Gunn-Schiller
Willie Mae Gunn-Schiller, 90 of Cameron died Sunday, April 17, 2022 at her home.
Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time. Private family burial will be at the Seaton Cemetery in Seaton following the memorial service.
She was born on April 23, 1931, in Temple, to William t. Gunn and Alma Mae Johnson-Gunn. She graduated from Troy High School in 1948 and while working she met the love of her life, Wallie Lee Schiller and they married Sept. 24, 1971.
Mae worked for Scott and White Hospital, Texas Bank and Trust, also worked as a bookkeeper for Bowman, Courtney, Pemberton and Norman Law Firm in 1992. While retirement wasn’t enough, Mae worked with the USPS at the South Station in Temple for additional 9-1/2 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Wallie Lee Schiller; her parents; and step-father, Gordon Holland; and a step-son, Gary Dean Schiller; and a daughter-in-law, Shannon Renee Schiller.
She is survived by her children: Bonnie Wade Schoonover and husband Calvin of Bryan,
Helen Dianne Wade Marshall of Moody, Steve and Judy Schiller of Troy, Daryl and Terri Schiller of Temple, and Darron Schiller of Belton; her grandchildren, Paula Cowan-Daughtery and wife Lisa Marie, of Danville, Calif., Micheale Minatrea and husband J.D. of Cameron, Catie Cowan of Bryan, James Martin, and Diana Muetan of Moody; and by her great-grandchildren, Evan, J.W., Emily, Conner, Collin, Emberly, Chase, Zoey, Jesse, Natalie, Bradley and Little Gary Eli who all called her, “Grannie Mae.”
