Bulldogs dominate Iola in 42-6 win

The Thorndale Bulldogs won in dominating fashion 42-6 over Iola on Friday night. 

Thorndale kicked off the scoring in the first quarter with a 7-yard touchdown run by Coy Stutts for a 6-0 lead after a missed extra point. The second quarter was all Thornade as Stutts ran in for an 8-yard touchdown run to make it a 14-0 lead after a successful two point conversion. Thorndale added on with a 59-yard touchdown pass from Stutts to Jayden Clawson for a 21-0 lead. The shutout continued with another touchdown pass from Stutts to Clawson, this time for 21 yards, to make the lead 28-0 going into halftime.

Iola put themselves on the scoreboard in the third quarter with a 17-yard touchdown run to make the score 28-6 after a failed two point conversion. Hunter Thigpen added to the lead with a 2-yard touchdown run making the score 35-6. Thorndale scored their final points of the game just as the third quarter was coming to an end with a 78-yard touchdown pass from Stutts to Clason Beasley for a final score of 42-6.

The defense was stout against the passing game, only allowing 61 passing yards and forced two fumbles. Coy Stutts was absolutely sensational, throwing for 211 yards and three touchdowns, along with rushing for 143 yards and two touchdowns. Jayden Clawson also had a terrific game, catching two passes for 80 yards and two touchdowns. Clason Beasley was unstoppable, catching three passes for 130 yards and a touchdown. 

The Bulldogs move to 3-1 on the season  and will begin district play next week.

Up next, the Bulldogs will head on the road to take on the Schulenburg Shorthorns for their district opener. The game will be on Friday and kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
