Bulldogs to face new opponents in district play

Starting next year for the 2024-2025 season, the Thorndale Bulldogs and Lady Dogs sports team will be having a new set of district opponents.

As of now, the UIL has posted the new district reclassification and realignment for football, basketball, and volleyball. Thorndale will not switch conferences and will remain in 2A.

First up, the Thorndale football team. The Bulldogs will remain in 2A Division 1, and will still be in Region 4, but will be moving from District 13 to District 14. They will have five other opponents and the only familiar foe will be Holland. The other four teams will be Harper, Johnson City LBJ, Mason, and San Saba.

Up next is the volleyball team. The Lady Dogs will not be moving anywhere, as they are staying in Region 4 District 26. Their district will be slightly bigger and they will go from having four opponents to having five. They will keep Bartlett, Granger, and Holland. They will be losing Thrall, who is bumping up to 3A, and is gaining Milano and McDade.

Last there is the basketball teams. The Bulldogs and Lady Dogs will not be moving anywhere as they will remain in Region 4 District 27. The size of their district will remain the same at seven total teams. Four of their district opponents will remain the same: Granger, Bartlett, Holland, and Milano. They will be losing Hearne and Thrall (who is bumping up to 3A), and is gaining Rosebud-Lott and McDade.

All of these changes will remain from 2024-2026.
