Lady Dogs season ends against Weimar

The Thorndale Lady Dogs softball team traveled to take on the Weimar Lady Cats in the Regional Semifinals.

The Lady Dogs were swept by Weimar in the series 2-0 to bring their incredible season to an end.

Game 1 took place on Wednesday, May 15, at Brenham High School. Thorndale was shut out by the Lady Cats 1-0 in a game that was a pure pitchers duel.

The lone run for Weimar came in the fourth inning when a runner advanced home to score on a wild pitch that got by the catcher. Karis Ginn was the starting pitcher for Thorndale. She pitched a great game, giving up six hits and one run over seven innings, striking out four and walking one.

Game 2 took place on Saturday, May 18, at Navasota High School and Thorndale was defeated by a score of 4-1.

Weimar started the scoring with one run in the first inning to take an early 1-0 lead. The Lady Cats increased their lead in the third inning with three more runs to widen their lead to 4-0.

Karis Ginn came to bat in the seventh inning and brought Aiyanna Stevenson home on an RBI double to make the score 4-1, but it would not be enough as that would be the final score.
