Time to get ready for Christmas display

The holidays will be here before we can turn around. Planning has begun for the Thorndale Area Chamber of Commerce annual Christmas tree lighting.  The event will take place on Hwy 79 directly south of the post office.  Dorothy Riemer as in the past, has generously given the chamber permission to set up displays for lighting in the vacant lot.

We are asking individuals, churches, businesses and organizations to consider constructing a display to be used for this event or sharing a decoration that they already have.  We ask that your display be large enough to be viewed by people passing through Thorndale and that it contain lights for nighttime viewing.   This will make the lighting event something special for all to enjoy.

An invitation is extended to area church choirs and musicians.  If you belong to a choir, please share this opportunity with your members. The Thorndale ISD Band will also be invited to participate.   Let’s bring in the holidays with joyful sounds as well as lights.

A meeting was held at St. Paul Lutheran on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 6:30 p.m. to make initial plans.  Watch the Champion for workdays and times to be announced.    We will be working on lighting and arranging the trees and displays in the lot on designated weekends in October and November.   If you have any questions call Angie Becker at 898-2257 or Marilyn Johnson at 862-4419. Your donation of time and support is always appreciated!

Thank you for your consideration!  Let’s Light Up Thorndale for the Holidays!
