2020 Yoe Powerlifting

The 2020 spring sports season came to an abrupt end in early March. The Herald would like to take the time to recognize our spring athletes over the next few weeks. The member of the 2020 Yoe Powerlifting Team were: back row from left, Christian Leanud, Colby Arney, Dustin Smith; second row from left, Eduardo Gil, Yareli Contreras, Carlo Bolivar, Daejanay Bell, Tyler Burt, PJ Stidom, Colby Charanza; front row from left, Fabian Salomon, Selene Vargas, Savannah Nejtek, Carlos Salomon. Not pictured Dominic Lewis. The Lady Yoe powerlifters had a successful run at the regional powerlifting meet March 6. Selene Vargas was regional champion in 123-pound class. Yareli Contreras was runner-up and finished second place in the 259-pound class. Daejanay Bell was the runner-up and finished second place in the 259-plus-pound class. These three girls finished second as a team at the regional meet. All three were set to compete at the State Championships in Waco on Friday, March 20. The boys were supposed to compete in March, but the tournament was cancelled due to COVID-19.
