Lady Yoe continue season against Thrall, Rogers

The Lady Yoe girls’ basketball team remained home to host the Thrall Tigerrettes on Tuesday, New Years Eve. Cameron had some trouble and fell to Thrall, losing 40-21. The Lady Yoe traveled to take on the Rogers Lady Eagles on Friday, Jan. 3. Cameron was defeated by Rogers, losing 55-38.

The Lady Yoe started quickly with a layup by Summer Keith (12) off a steal for 2-0 start. Cameron showed deep range with a three pointer by Davajha Johnson (4) to take an 8-3 lead. The first quarter ended with Cameron ahead 10-3. The Lady Yoe scored first in the second quarter with a layup by Amani Fields (24) to make it a 12-3 lead. Rogers clawed back with an 18-3 surge to go ahead 21-15. Cameron ended the run with a three-point make by Fields for a 21-18 deficit. Rogers ended the quarter with a 6-0 spurt to go into halftime ahead of Cameron 27-18. 

The first points for Cameron in the third quarter came from a basket by Fields to make the score 29-20. The Lady Eagles responded and grew their lead to double digits at 32-22. The third quarter ended with the Lady Yoe trailing 37-28 after a buzzer beating three-pointer by Mykayla Scott (23).  The Lady Yoe scored first in the fourth quarter with a basket by Aireana Knight (22) to closed the gap 37-30. Rogers answered with a 12-2 burst to expand their lead to 49-32. The Lady Yoe ended the slump with a three-pointer by Johnson to make the score 49-35. That was followed with another three point make by Keith to tighten the margin to 49-38. Sadly, it was not enough as Rogers finished the game with six unanswered points to beat the Lady Yoe 55-38. 

With this loss, Cameron has a record of 6-15 and a district record of 0-4. 

Up next, the Lady Yoe will remain home to host the Lexington Lady Eagles. The game will be Friday, Jan. 10, and tip off is scheduled for 6:15 p.m.
