Lady Yoe earn experience at Yoe Invitational

The weekend of Jan. 11-13, the Cameron Lady Yoe soccer team hosted an in-season tournament. The Lady Yoe finished with a record of 0-3-1.

Cameron played one game on Thursday against the Florence Lady Buffs. They were defeated by Florence, losing 3-1. The Lady Yoe started the game strong with a goal by Brooke Host in the 10th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Cameron played solid defense for most of the first half, but gave up a goal to Florence in the 24th minute to tie the score at 1, which would be the score going into halftime.

Cameron gave their best effort, including multiple great saves by goalie, Brianna Acosta, but Florence would pull away in the second half with goals in the 35th and 46th minute to secure a 3-1 win over Cameron. The Lady Yoe played two games on Friday, the first was against the Little River Academy Lady Bees. Cameron was shut out by Academy, losing 6-0.

The second game was a matchup with the Rockdale Lady Tigers. That was a very competitive game and one they had a chance to win, but the game ended in a 1-1 tie. Cameron had one game on Saturday against the Achieve Lady Bears. Cameron was shut out by Achieve, losing 4-0.

Cameron will have a road matchup against the Waco Connally Lady Cadets on Wednesday, then the Lady Yoe will travel to take on Waco Harmony. The game will be Jan. 19 and is set to start at 5 p.m.
