Lady Yoe end season with loss

The Lady Yoe returned home to host the Rogers Lady Eagles on Tuesday, Oct. 29, for their regular season finale. The Lady Yoe were defeated by Rogers, losing 3-1. 

The first two points of the first set went to Cameron, then Rogers answered with a 3-1 run to tie the set at 3. The Lady Eagles continued their surge to lead 7-4, but Cameron ended their spurt with a kill by Ava Magre (6) to trail 7-5. Cameron came back to tie the set at 8, then Rogers answered with three straight points to go back ahead 11-8. The Lady Yoe closed the gap with an ace by Mackenzie Mahan (8) to make the score 11-10. 

Cameron retook the lead 13-12 with a kill by Ka’Sara Brooks (4), then Rogers responded with a 6-1 run to go back ahead 18-13. The Lady Yoe continued to fight with a spike by Saydi Wimmer (12) for a 19-17 deficit and continued on a 4-0 run to lead 21-19. Cameron showed great defense with a combined block by Crystal Daniels (7) and Magre for a 22-20 lead. Cameron stayed ahead with a kill by Wimmer for a 24-21 advantage and held strong to win the first set 25-23. 

The second set started even until Cameron jumped out ahead 6-3. The Lady Yoe stayed ahead with a spike by Wimmer for a 7-4 lead. Kennedy Banks (11) helped extend their lead with two consecutive kills to make the score 10-5. Rogers tried to creep back but Cameron ended their spurt with a spike by Brooks to make it a 12-9 lead. 

Rogers continued to rally and made the score 14-13, but the Lady Yoe halted them with a kill by Wimmer for a 15-13 lead. The Lady Eagles pulled away with a 9-1 run to lead 22-16 and would go on to win the second set 25-17. 

Rogers continued their momentum, scoring the first five points of the third set. Cameron broke the drought with a kill by Banks to make the score 5-1. The Lady Yoe made the score 5-3, but Rogers answered with a run of their own to lead 10-5. 

Cameron ended the rally with a kill by Wimmer for a 10-6 deficit. Cameron continued to fight with a kill by Magre to trail 13-7, but Rogers pulled away and grew their lead to double digits at 18-8. The Lady Yoe broke their slump with a kill by Banks to make the score 18-9. The Lady Eagles surged once more to win the third set going away 25-11. 

The first point of the fourth set went to Rogers and took a 3-1 lead. The Lady Yoe kept the set close, trailing 8-5, then scored on a spike by Wimmer for a 10-7 deficit. Cameron continued to stay in the set with a kill by Banks to trail 13-9. 

Cameron closed the gap with a tip kill by Brooks for a 14-10 deficit, then Rogers answered with a 7-4 run to lead 21-14. 

The Lady Yoe tried to fight back with two consecutive kills by Wimmer to make the score 21-17, but it wasn’t enough as Rogers finished strong to win the fourth set 25-17. 

The Cameron Lady Yoe volleyball team hosted the Thrall Tigerettes on Oct. 22. The Lady Yoe was swept by Thrall 3-0, losing the first set 27-25, the second set 25-14, and the third set 26-24. 

The Lady Yoe traveled to take on the Rockdale Lady Tigers on Friday, Oct. 25. Cameron was swept by Rockdale 3-0, losing the first set 25-14, the second set 25-19, and the third set 25-20. 

Cameron finishes the season with a record of 18-19 and a district record of 2-10.
