Lady Yoe fall to Rogers
The Cameron Lady Yoe basketball team hosted the Troy Trojanttes for their district home opener on Dec. 16. They were defeated 35-23 to bring their district record to 0-2.
Up next they went on the road to face the Rogers Lady Eagles, and would come up empty, losing 43-28.
The game started slow but Cameron would get a layup from Kaly White (3) for an early 4-2 lead. The Lady Yoe would expand their lead and go-ahead 9-2.
The first quarter ended with Cameron ahead of Rogers 9-4. The Lady Yoe got off to a slow start in the second quarter and lost the lead 11-9. Cameron stayed aggressive with a fastbreak layup by Saydi Wimmer (30) off assist a nice by Lauren Harris (2) for 13-11 deficit. The Lady Yoe fell behind 17-11, but would get a big three point shot from Aubree Brashear (13) to close the gap to 17-15. Cameron went into halftime trailing 20-15.
The Lady Yoe started their scoring in the third quarter with a three pointer by Brashear for a 24-18 deficit. Rogers began to pull away and led Cameron 31-20, then 37-22, which would be the score at the end of the third quarter 37-22.
In the fourth quarter, Cameron got a layup from White to make the score 39-24. White came through with another basket for a score of 43-28 deficit, which would end up being the final score of the game.
Up next for the Lady Yoe will be a road matchup against the Lorena Lady Leopards. The game will be on Tuesday, Jan. 3, and tip-off is set for 6:15 p.m.
