Lady Yoe kick off district play
The Lady Yoe basketball team was defeated on the road by the Taylor Lady Ducks 69-36 on Friday night. They kicked off district play at home against the Florence Lady Buffaloes on Tuesday night. Unfortunately, the Lady Buffaloes defeated Cameron 53-29.
Early in the game, Cameron would get a layup by Kaly White (3) to tie game at 2. They stayed in the game with a fastbreak layup by Camryn Ward (22) off an assist by White for a 5-4 game. Florence then went on spurt and took an 11-4 lead, which would be the score at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Yoe attempted to get back in the game with a three-pointer by Claudia Campos (44) to make the score 11-7, and soon improved the score to 13-11. Florence then began to surge on offense, along with tough defense, and would go into halftime leading 24-11.
The Lady Yoe would not score a point until late in the third quarter with a layup by White off an assist by Mia Wimmer (11) for a 33-13 score. The third quarter ended with Florence leading 39-14. The Lady Yoe failed to back down as they would get a three-pointer by Camryn Green (10) for 39-18 score, followed by another three pointer by Ward for a 39-21 score. The deficit for Cameron would be widened to 44-25, but a fastbreak layup by Campos made the score 52-29. It wouldn’t be enough as Cameron would lose 53-29.
Cameron will not play on Friday as it will be their bye week. Their next game will be Tuesday, Dec. 21, on the road against the Rockdale Lady Tigers.
